Nigel Andrews Financial Times Nasty, brutish and at 89 minutes just the right length. Feb 22, 2008 Full Review David Gritten Daily Telegraph (UK) Writer-directors David Nerlich and Andrew Traucki calibrate the tension with creditable skill. Feb 22, 2008 Full Review Phelim O'Neill Guardian While the when-animals-attack genre has been a staple of direct-to-retail movies for decades now, this tries for a more realistic approach than the usual rubber or CGI reptile's buffet. Rated: 3/5 Feb 22, 2008 Full Review Joe Lipsett Murder Made Fiction Podcast - Bloody Disgusting What Andrew Traucki and David Nerlich accomplish with such a slight budget is an absolute feat. The croc and the action scenes look incredibly real, and the human drama is satisfying enough to carry audiences through the survival horror bits. Rated: 4/5 Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Andrew F. Peirce The Curb ...the indie-stylings of Black Water help distinguish it as a unique entry in the creature feature horrors. It may be the smallest of the Aussie croc flicks, but it's no less effective. Aug 4, 2020 Full Review Urban Cinefile Critics Urban Cinefile Splendid in its economy, Black Water gets a grip on our senses and never lets go %u2026 the writer/directors portray nature as something wondrous and deadly all at once, which is what it is of course, without guilt, without an agenda %u2013 except surviva Apr 18, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Len P The crocodile and animatronics (if used) was good and reasonable acting, but a simple boring predictable plot of just surviving. The final “neutralising” of the crocodile was not believable and the croc would have been much more deadly and efficient. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Rick L Overrated & very dated now watching again. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Logan D Three stupid persons end up trapped in trees after a croc kills their guide. My wife and I agree, the audience is correct on this one. Not sure what film critics viewed but it couldn't be this one. The croc's actions aren't believable and, as indicated above, the characters are pretty dumb. It's actually been a while since I viewed it and I'm thinking I was trying to forget the experience by not reviewing it. Highly not recommended. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review Alexander F Suspenseful at times, but not that scary. But the scenario is terrifying though. If you are looking for a croc movie, I'd recommend it. Otherwise you might be better off watching something else. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Emilliano S Well acted but boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/30/23 Full Review Peter W Overall, as an Australian directional debut from David Nerlich and Andrew Traucki, this film has many positive elements. Sure, it is a basic plot and set in one location for most of its duration, but the film manages to build suspense and surprise its audiences by the third act. It is a beautiful achievement, and it is no wonder why the film later received a thumbs-up for a sequel. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
