Abu Amar hopes for a better future, but has found it difficult to achieve given the murk of his current life. Amar was a committed mujahideen during the Afghanistan war against the Soviets in the 1980s. But since returning to his small hometown in Jordan, he's struggled to rise above the poverty and general hopelessness of his surroundings. His town, Zarqa, also happens to where the late Al Qaeda official Abu Musab al-Zarqawi hails from, and Amar has to live in the shadow of the more famous man.
