Forced to retire prematurely from his job at a factory, Larry Pierce decides to pursue his other career: writing, recording and performing raunchy country music. Beginning in the early 1990s, Larry records more than a dozen lewd country albums, championed by all those truckers who crave a few chuckles during the long haul through the night. Following Larry as his new career takes off, this documentary examines the paradox of America's blend of puritanism and obscenity.

Audience Member Larry Pierce is a retired auto worker from a small town in Indiana who moonlights as a writer/performer of filthy country music. His CD's and cassettes are sold in truck stops and he plays shows on weekends in his garage for his buddies. A kind of douchey rock band who also play dirty music, idolize him and tracks him down. They take him on tour with them and everybody is happy singing songs about having sex. This documentary directed by the guys behind the Found Footage Festival is the most touching story you'll ever see about an old guy who sings country music about anal sex. Seriously ... it's nice seeing this guy who doesn't think he has amounted to much discovering that people love him. The documentary also covers the history of filthy music including Blow Fly and Doug Clark and His Hot Nuts. The history and talking heads stuff goes on far too long given how repetitive it becomes. This documentary is just over an hour and that's actually a bit too long. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely hilarious exploration of an entire little heard off music sub culture and one man's unexpected cult success. An absolute gem of a documentary. Don't watch it if you don't find cussing and swearing funny. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
