dave s If nothing else, Restraint, a low-budget cat-and-mouse thriller from Australia, proves a few things. Firstly, regardless of how implausible a movie looks in retrospect, if you keep the twists and turns coming quickly enough over the course of the film, it can be an enjoyable experience in the moment. Such is the case with Restraint. Secondly, movie cameras are very kind to Teresa Palmer who, despite not being an A-level star, certainly has the potential to become one. Thirdly, while recognizing the fact that this was made on a pretty skimpy budget, fork out some money on a tripod or a Steadicam. The constantly bobbing camera in Restraint does nothing more than prove to become a distraction throughout the movie. Other than that, it's a passable but forgettable thriller. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/14 Full Review Audience Member I found myself like most, rooting for the good guy but I could see how some would hate the ending. Let's just say it gets you rethinking about expectations we have but movies don't always portray good and bad guys with the way they can be in real life. Before you immediately decide how you feel about the ending... don't think of it as just a twisted turn for the sake of a reaction. I think of it as realistic and that certain kinds of men shouldn't be used so often as a savior for a woman in cinema. I possibly thought too much of it... but honestly my first reaction was,"What, are you kidding me??" and then changed to,"Well the expected ending would have tied things up but then would be cheesy and following most movie formulas..."
