Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Just another bland entry in a sub-genre that’s nearing the line of overexposure, if it hasn’t already crossed over. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Mark R. Leeper rec.arts.movies.reviews Fans of zombie films may be a little sorry that so much of the film is familiar. This is a one viewing film. But for that one viewing is a polished work. Rated: 6/10 Mar 24, 2010 Full Review Film Threat Rated: 2/5 Oct 22, 2009 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet Certainly does infuse its own distinct brand of emotional horror into a story that generally only works on a physical level. Bonzinho, escuro e simples... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Audience Member Not a bad movie, but could've been much better nothing new expect the zombie look. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Slightly better than common norms. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Typical zombie movie. Not good, not bad. Worth a look. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member CONTAINS SPOILERS As a fan of the zombie genre, I found this movie thinking that it would be a French take on the 28 series. As it turns out, director David Morlet must have been hoping that 1) no one in France had seen the 28 series, and 2) no English speakers would find it. Well, the movie was put on netflix for all us 28 series fans to find. Plot summary: The first 45 minutes are an annoying, but all-too-familiar, exercise in wondering why the main character doesn't do what would obviously make her life easier. The second half of the movie is a trite juxtaposition of evil humans with zombies and the main character in between, blah blah blah. Parts are stolen from 28 Days Later, and some is stolen from 28 Weeks Later (for example, the overall plot that a person seemingly carrying the secret to immunity must make it out of the quarantine zone alive). In summary, I know this review sounds like a 28 fan who is upset that a film copied it - this is not the case. If it had borrowed plot points and made a good film, I would have embraced it probably more. However, it tries to drag out very sparse details in the format of an action film. Do not waste your time.
