Steve D Almost works but it is too unfocused with too many plot-lines. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review delysid d i love black westerns Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/22 Full Review Audience Member This a much overlooked western movie which highlights the treatment of Native Americans and is comprised of a multi racial cast without the stereotypes of the day. A very good plot line and very progressive for its time. It is a western movie which could be remade today and still have substance for our time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review r 9 A thoroughly enjoyable western from 1966. The two main actors involved here give top performances, with James Garner appearing as Jess and Sidney Poitier portraying Toller. I liked all their stuff, both on their own and as a duo. Bill Travers also stands out in his role as McAllister. It's a pretty excellent cast in truth. Another thing that is notable about 'Duel at Diablo' is the music, which is very nicely crafted by Neal Hefti - there's one particular piece that suits so, so well. The premise is great to see play out, even though it isn't a massively unique story. There is a secondary plot which is all about Garner's Jess, one that starts off intriguing but kinda fizzles out by the end - I would've appreciated a deeper dive into what was his original motive. What I just mentioned would be my only real criticism, as the rest of the film is terrific. Recommended. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an ok Western which is actually pretty violent. he main attraction is the cast which includes Sidney Poitier, James Garner, Bibi Andersson(Bergman's "Persona") and Dennis Weaver(Spielberg's "Duel"). For fans of he genre, or the actors only. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member 130918: Found this film, and the characters, a bit quirky during the first 30 + minutes. It's not bad, just found it a bit strange at the beginning. Features a couple big actors and others I swear I recognize. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
