With the cast that this movie had, and the decent story, this movie should have been pretty stellar. Sadly it was boring, convoluted and didn't really work overall. Peter Cushing just phoned it in. He honestly looked bored with everything. John Hurt was great and played a madman quite well.

My favourite Hammer/Amicus era horror film still unavailable on DVD in the UK at the time of writing. Two pairs of irritating 1920s era toffs get their comeuppance in the middle of a dark English forest after seeking shelter in the remote mansion of an elegant but profoundly melancholy Peter Cushing. John Hurt is particularly memorable as Cushing's sexually predatory gamekeeper.

This is one of my favorite b-horror movies, it is completely demented. I love the fact that John Hurt was involved in this movie. I love ther reference to Carnival of Souls in this movie (the car race)

Pretty good semi horror/thriller Starring Peter Cushing who lives out on a private estate with just his maid who practices weird rituals and a caretaker whos just plain odd and a secret kept in his attic that secret being his adult son who is crazed and has a thing for human flesh he gets just that when a woman who was a passenger in a auto race ends up at the house. slow to get started with a pretty decent payoff is what makes this a 3 star movie
