Audience Member With the cast that this movie had, and the decent story, this movie should have been pretty stellar. Sadly it was boring, convoluted and didn't really work overall. Peter Cushing just phoned it in. He honestly looked bored with everything. John Hurt was great and played a madman quite well. Two pairs of irritating 1920s era toffs get their comeuppance in the middle of a dark English forest after seeking shelter in the remote mansion of an elegant but profoundly melancholy Peter Cushing. John Hurt is particularly memorable as Cushing's sexually predatory gamekeeper.
