This was a teen movie that "hits differently". Despite it showing some odd crude humor it also offers food for thought on the roles of gender and why things are the way they are. This movie I could not imagine standing out or being worth watching in its era. However it is 2021 and this film can still resonate with certain audiences everywhere. This film indulges the Nice Guy Fantasy trope and that's the mistake. What is Matthew at the end of it besides "nice?" Nice is uninteresting. Nice is naïve.
