Bought it at a yard sale, and over paid $1. This poorly conceived film contains amateurish acting from well know actors, shabbily written dialog, and is shamefully divergent from the original novel by Charles Nordoff and James Norman Hall. It is simply awful. One star is overly generous.

I Love the sex dance ooo ya :) its like watching to birds about ready to mate (pretty bird's ;p) mia dosent dissapoint she is amazing and her co star izz smokin even tho he is probly in his 50's now he had it goin on !! this is a tru love film what he wont do for her Its love at first sight passion undone and nowhere to run type of show its best to watch on a stormy iky day then you feel apart of this film have the true expirience * living in florida I actually watched this while a hurricane wazz ragin so i was so intriged !! yes this film is something ill say ..Allot like the great gatsby type ..old school but cool*

What happened? Jan Troell is normally such a magnificent director. This is one slow moving film. Mia Farrow stinks, the rest of the cast isn?t much better. Visually it is quite beautiful, and technically speaking it is fine, but dramatically it is greatly lacking.

** (out of four) Mia Farrow and Jason Robards are a daughter and father who reunite in Bora Bora. She begins an affair with a local native...and wouldn't you know it...but a huge hurricane is headed right for them. The romance is pretty silly and only a time filler while we wait for the inevitable storm to arrive.
