If there's anything worth noting of this 1939 version directed by Gregory Ratoff, it's the luminous energy of Bergman, who is impossibly fresh-faced and vibrant. Go to Full Review

It is first and best an Ingrid Bergman delivery system, and you can never really have too much of that, wouldn't you agree? Go to Full Review

A remake of the similarly titled Swedish film,"Intermezzo" is a classic tale of romance from 1939. It is also a great glimpse Ingrid Bergman's highly developed talents at just 24-years-old. Go to Full Review

Marit Risto F Apr 28 Some great filming, and a few interesting details. But just another repetition of the nevrotic split, between the husband and the lover. The playback I also find so painful. Such a relief to see real musicians doing the work. And the poor wife, waiting at home. Like Penelope, and Solveig. Knitting... What man would have done that, and been forgiving? If his woman had fooled around with a boy, half her age? Spent most of her time and energy to work, and his main purpose was to be handsome? Sacrificed his own career, to be her accompanist? And she expected him to cook dinner, instead of searching for the piano that was essential for him? Give me a break See more James B @JamesBass 07/16/2024 The actors say their lines making sure they don’t interrupt each other. It’s nice to see Bergman at such a young age. See more 06/22/2014 The movie itself isn't good. The way it portrays the love affair between the two main characters especially sucks. However, Ingrid Bergman! You get to see her when she was 24!
