That's what happens, all right, but what really happens is a lot more complicated. Because Masquerade depends upon its many surprises, I won't reveal any more of the plot. Go to Full Review

Nick Z Oct 13 A darkly purposed, sexually charged thriller with overt nudity and some questionable acting, overall, Masquerade holds together because of its strangely off cinematography that takes the monied playgrounds of the super rich and makes them seem moodily magnificent and dangerously threatening from beginning to end. Rob Lowe's a cunning con artist who develops a backbone after meeting Meg Tilly's poor little rich wallflower. Doug Savant is a cop with less integrity than first meets the eye, and, Dana Delaney is cast as a threatening harpy who receives her comeuppances for playing a hand she can't win. It all culminates in a few truly startling surprises and a slam-bang finale that falls on deaf ears. Good stuff here, if mixed with a few moments of indifference. The law enforcement agent appears too bad to be believable, but the rest play well within the story. The lesson? Don’t fall in love with very rich girls. See more Jack O 06/19/2023 While looking at the films that are interesting, usually the ones that really do thrill me, move me and keep me on the edge of the seat, well, not as good as to say thrilling. I think Masquerade would be the proper example. While it had a good plot but when watching this movie I really do think it has it's moments, like the relationship between the characters played by Rob Lowe and Meg Tilly and all. I think this is the same plot as Body Heat starring William Hurt and Kathleen Turner. While I am a fan of 80's, I think this drama thriller is just a solid experience. See more 06/06/2017 Plenty of twists in this good mystery center around a penniless yacht captain in a plan with two others to get their hands on a young woman's inherited fortune in the Hamptons. Rob Lowe a perfect fit in this role. See more Read all reviews
