steve d An especially weak version. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review marc k Good remake. C. Heston did well in the role of Silver Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Best version ever made, period. As a fan of the book since I was young, this film fully captures the spirit, atmosphere, pacing and plot of the actual book, with each actor fully embodying the original characters they portray. There are flaws; the budget obviously was not up to theater-level wide releases, but do not mistake this version as a B-movie, far from it. It deserves a full Blu-Ray release, but I suspect the politics of this age are keeping it from ever being released on a better format than DVD. It's well worth your time however to hunt this one down like treasure and enjoy with popcorn and rum. Aye, rum! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Best version of the book hands down. Great grizzled acting from Heston and great complimentary music. Loved this movie since I was a kid. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review antonis k Despite the big names of Heston, Bale, Lee and more 'Treasure Island' ends up being a goofy disappointment. (4/10) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a faithful and well-acted retelling of Stevenson’s classic tale. The characterizations are excellent, and it neither romanticizes pirates as lovable rogues, nor wallows in their violence as other adaptations have done.
