TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 4d Twister (1989) is a baffling drama that promises excitement but delivers a messy, unfocused family story. Instead of gripping tension, the film wanders through strained relationships, illness, and constant back and forth that never builds to anything meaningful. The casting feels off, with performances that lack chemistry and make every emotional moment fall flat. Dialogue is awkward, scenes drift without purpose, and the screenplay never finds a clear direction. What should feel intense instead feels dull and confusing. The pacing drags while somehow rushing past moments that might have mattered. You keep waiting for the story to lock in, but it never does. Direction offers no momentum, and the movie feels like it is stumbling from scene to scene without a payoff. Even the title feels misleading, setting expectations the film cannot meet. In the end, Twister is not engaging or memorable. It is a frustrating watch that feels disconnected, poorly written, and hard to care about. See more Erin M 07/22/2024 Watched on accident because we meant to watch Twister 1996, but stumbled upon this instead. The plot was so slow, the storyline was boring and the ending was sloppy. Don’t watch unless you want to say WTF the whole movie. See more 04/18/2014 A man seeks to reconnect with his daughter and her alcoholic mother, who rarely leave the family mansion they share with the family patriarch (Harry Dean Stanton) and a weirdo artist brother/uncle (Crispin Glover). With interesting characters portrayed by intriguing actors (there's even a cameo by William S. Burroughs), it's a movie that keeps teasing that it's just about to get really good... then it ends. See more 09/19/2013 Twister is an odd 80s comedy which surrounds an eccentric family. The humor in this is undeniably cheap, but the execution is surprisingly strong. The family dinner scene has me cracking up. The rest is only funny in the sense of how weird it is, and it's the weirdest comedy I've ever seen. Really random in humor, concepts, ans stpries, but it's not a movie to be completely brushed off 2 stars- See more 04/11/2012 Hey, a twister is commin, lets tie ourselves to a pipe with our belts!!!
