Audience Member A really entertaining movie. Funny and heartwarming. Bogart, Ustinov and Ray are excellent as the 3 convicts. One of our families favorites, Highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Steve W The humor is spot on, delivered with exquisite timing. Seeing Bogey sell a man a coat 3 sizes too small for him is wonderful,(You're breathing!) Plus how can you not love Adolph?! On top of that, my kids love it, as well, and has become a Christmas family tradition. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Ryan J Pure tongue in cheek satire at it's finest. An all star cast of superlative actors who took the licence to enhance their characters drawing on their films and roles of the past. Bogart pure snide dead pan from his detective days, Ustinov morose victim of life and circumstances, and Ray, very much a lethal killer, but all three with hearts of gold. Carrol of course was the bumbling Topper, and Rathbone, the excessively evil bad guy from his horror films. Everyone obviously enjoyed satirizing their past roles and the overall portrayals clearly displayed they were having fun and not taking themselves or their roles too seriously. Bogart, "Cut their throats. Gouge their eyes out. After we do the dishes." Ustinov in his most serious sad mien, "Ah yes, Marseilles. Terrible wicked place. Rotten to the core. I loved every minute." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review Steve D Absolutely none of it worked for me. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Meri13 My family and I love this film! It's one of those films that you find yourself smiling often. It's a rarity in today's world. I felt that the only cast member who didn't seem to fit was Gloria Talbott. Probably because she was known for "starring" in low-budget scifi films. Everyone else was terrific, especially the "angels." Basil Rathbone held his own by being the sneering, miserly family/boss man. Joan Bennet was gorgeous as usual and her singing voice was perfect. We have this one on dvd and take it out once in a while to enjoy over again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review MyPhone I stumbled upon this movie many year's ago (I think it was 1972!). It was late Christmas night and my father and I were delighted with it. It became a family tradition and I now have the DVD and watch it every Christmas. The comedic talent is off the scales. We all knew Peter Ustinov was a genius but who knew that Bogie could be so funny? The dialog is snappy and the actors make you love them even though two of them are murderers. Of course, we all love to hate Basil Rathbone and what a great Christmas present to the family when Adolf bit him and cousin Andre. Don't miss this one, it is a classic and should get much more airtime. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/23/22 Full Review Read all reviews
