I've rarely seen a location used more effectively than in We're No Angels, where the small town of Mission in British Columbia has been dressed up to match the Depression era. Go to Full Review

.. this is a film of great wit, a sense of the value of religion, and a constant sense of wry humour. It’s three decades too late, but can we show a little respect for We’re No Angels?.. Go to Full Review

Jay W Dec 11 I give credit that this is a remake that goes in a different direction than the original. But at the same time, this is a remake that changes so much from the first that it misses the point of the story. The original was a lighthearted Christmas movie. Three convicts take an interest in an innocent storeowner’s family. The story then focuses on the convicts helping the family out and becoming better people. This remake focuses more on the convicts attempt to evade capture. This one retells the story as a more serious suspense thriller. This more grounded approach makes the idea that everyone is fooled by these guys harder to believe. The story doesn't have enough jokes to be a good comedy. The pace is far too slow, with long awkward silences. It is also too much of a farce to be considered a good drama. There are two great punchlines in the movie, but overall, this movie falls short. Watch it for De Niro, Penn, and Moore alone.” See more Todd B Jan 12 Good movie about two convicts that try to blend in a religious church group, probably catholic in that period. Two thumbs!
