Shukla creates an intimate world in which the obvious tropes do pop up. The pitch is often too loud for film and, with the staging of some scenes, the goings-on occasionally feel more suitable for the theatre than for the big screen. Go to Full Review

102 Not Out is uneven but heartfelt. Despite the flaws, the emotions connect. And if like me, you are of a certain vintage, you will get a nostalgic head-rush when you see Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan in the same frame. Go to Full Review

This chintzy portion of screenwriter Saumya Joshi's consistently sentimental narrative is mostly bearable thanks to Kapoor's comic timing and Bachchan's seemingly boundless energy. Go to Full Review

Despite his guilt-inducing tactics, the only message that 102 Not Out ironically disseminates is the abject need for educating our birth-givers in the language of parental independence. Go to Full Review

I suspect that this is the kind of average fare that relies on who its viewers are. Many parents might choose to overlook the flimsiness and view this as a winning unbeaten century in a chase. I'm not so sure others may look at it the same way. Go to Full Review

102 Not Out never shrugs off the feeling of made-for-stage or garbled, lost-in-translation Gujarati texture. Go to Full Review

Nope N Apr 17 The condescension here of the "Top Critics" is not just over-the-top, it's also a cliché unto itself. Notice all the negative reviews: they all harp on the same supposed flaw, that this film feels too much like a play, or like the original play, or that it belongs in the theatre, not the big screen. Rubbish. Not an original thought among them. Calling out the material for being too similar to its source is a gross failure. The film, while certainly imperfect and somewhat itself cliched, is far more than endearing and charming: its the tenderest of love stories between father and son, and one which is served extremely well by the outstanding leads. See more r 9 05/10/2022 Good fun and surprisingly nails the sweetness too. '102 Not Out' is a film that I had a pleasant time with. Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are terrific in this release, with those two making for an entertaining double act. Jimit Trivedi and Vijay Raaz are solid too, albeit in much more minor roles. I wouldn't say anything comedically made me laugh, though the humour is still one of the film's main positives. It, in fact, holds its own when it comes to the more sombre bits, which are put together almost perfectly. I thought it would stray into cringe/cheese territory at some point, but this flick never does... it actually comes across impressively well. The music is also pretty good, I particularly enjoyed "Bachche Ki Jaan" - even though it does sound out of place here and there, yet again finds a way to work. "Badumbaaa" makes for a decent outro piece, shame about the (minor, in how often its seen - editor had a conscience?) use of blackface for the music video though - not that it was ever fine, but in 2018? Come on... Overall, this did indeed surprise me. Hearty. See more 03/17/2019 It was a delight to watch Amitabh and Rishi, effortlessly bringing their individual characters to life, that we stop caring for the story which was unremarkable and remain fixated on just seeing them on screen. The screenplay was top-notch, there were hardly any lengthy scenes or boring emotional dialogues. I liked the scene when to prove an important point, Dattatraya calls up a number in the USA and puts the conversation on speaker - it was refreshing to see this straight batting within a family. See more 07/23/2018 I enjoyed Rishi Kapoor expressions through out the film and Jimit Trivedi performance is another best thing. See more 05/21/2018 Unique storyline. Lots of laughs. Good moral message. See more Read all reviews
