Kelly L @Alewis 2d This movie is based on Gary Paulsen’s book The Hatchet. It was a really fun movie, especially if you have read the book. I really liked how the actors were very dramatic. There are a few gross and creepy parts. Another part that I didn’t like was Brian’s bad words and his parents bad words. I didn’t think that the bad language was needed in the movie. I think they could’ve used their words in a different way that was more life giving. Overall, I thought A Cry in the Wild was a good movie to watch. I also recommend that if you haven’t read Gary Paulsen’s book The Hatchet, that you do this before watching the movie. It will make the movie make more sense as the movie follows the storyline of the book. If you have read the book this movie makes sense as it follows Paulsen's story telling style perfectly. However that style doesn't translate well to cinema.
