Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand A genuine psychological drama, this is a film that takes place almost entirely in therapy sessions. It takes a Freudian approach to psychological trauma ... Audience Member The greatest 01 hour: and 31 minutes of the late Sidney Poiter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a riveting film with outstanding actors in the lead--Sidney Poitier and Bobby Darin. Poitier, as usual, was fantastic--and I already had seen Bobby Darin in "Captain Newman" and was also impressed by his performances. This film could change people's lives, as we realize Bobby Darin's character's horrible background (still no excuse for becoming a Nazi and/or for the awful crimes he committed--one explicitly shown in the film (in his past). I wish and pray that people like Bobby Darin's character are not just treated as psychiatric patients (which Sidney Poitier's character as a psychiatrist could only go so far to do--and even then, we realize, his character was just human, like the rest of us--and was profoundly angered by his patient's "psychopathic-like" personality.) I wonder if more people heard the gospel--and were offered more spiritual help--if that would make a difference in their lives. John 3: 16 - For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes shall not perish, but have everlasting life. And Verse 17 goes on--to offer a "no-condemnation" gift without strings attached from a God Who loves us and cares for His children. Verse 17 - For God didn't send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." This, I think, is the problem for teachers and counselors today--so much "Freudian" therapy. But if they were offered spiritual "therapy," would it make more of a difference? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review steve d Well acted and completely engaging. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member definitely preachy but for good reason Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review ashley h Pressure Point is a decent film. It is about a black prison psychiatrist is assigned the distasteful task of helping a paranoid American Nazi charged with sedition. Sidney Poitier, Peter Falk, and Bobby Darin give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Hubert Cornfield did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Only good for showing us that Darin can indeed act as well as sing and write. Poitier is always intense and ready to take the stage. I'm a fan of his but not so much here. I loved the flashbacks. The actor playing young "Patient" surprised me. I would have enjoyed watching a film about his time with his abusive parents more than Pressure Point. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
