Variety Staff Variety It is a film to which one applies the damning word 'interesting'. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Time Out Staff Time Out Richardson's bushranger biopic merely applies a simplistic gloss to the 'outlaw' image already projected onto Jagger... and his role as the legendary Australian anti-hero emerges as little more than an uncomfortable displacement of his tabloid notoriety. alan g Actually 0 stars. Mick Jagger can't act, sing or dance. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/24 Full Review mark g Wow, terrible! Jagger is comical. Horrible dubbed audio. Just really really bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Jeremy D Mick Jagger's acting performance may not be excellent but it is more than sufficient, and although the pace is somewhat plodding, the story is engaging enough. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review dave s Annoying is generally a word used to describe daily inconveniences. When somebody leaves their shopping cart in the last available parking spot, it's annoying. When the vending machine doesn't spit out your Mars bar after you've hit F3, it's really annoying. Describing a movie as annoying is sort of odd, but Ned Kelly is…well, annoying. The cinematography is nice and Mick Jagger actually does a decent job in the lead role. However, the interminable folk songs (which basically explain the entire movie) are infuriating, especially the horrible earworm Blame it on the Kellys. A weird folk song played over the never-ending boxing match is something to behold. The equally weird body armour worn by the gang during the gun battle reminds me of an army of Black Knights from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, staggering around as they deflect bullets. I'm annoyed just writing this. Enough already. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I went with 1 star with this movie, I was confused on what to put for this movie. I have seen this movie a few times and I know my bf liked this movie. The little theme song Blame it on the Kelly's you will never get it out of your head, kinda boring tbh. I don't want to watch this movie again, shame because I like Mick Jagger, funny to see him with short hair though but a pass from me on this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Blame it on the Kellys. You'll never get that ditty out of your head after you watch this. It's an oddity from the 1970's, more like a midnight movie actually, in which Mick Jagger makes his acting debut as the legendary Irish folk hero. Much like many of the films of this caliber, It's so kitschy that it's memorable. Mick Jagger is fantastic, and I love how it seems in almost any minute of this film, he looks like he's about to burst out dancing. The music is hilariously out of place, trying to sell this off an an American western when it is anything but, and yet that's what makes this film really charming. It feels rebellious and carefree. Unlike the Oscar-bait 2003 remake, this version of Ned Kelly truly captures the spirit of an outlaw. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
