Globe Staff Boston Globe The picture Is fully as fantastic and as entrancing as the characters about whom the story revolves. Feb 22, 2021 Full Review Mordaunt Hall New York Times It may not be exactly new to perceive silhouette figures on the screen, but it is quite another matter as they are offered here. Aug 19, 2014 Full Review David Parkinson Empire Magazine Beautiful and innovative -- age only adds to its brilliance and charm. Rated: A Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Walter Brown Hartford Courant Certainly there is more to appeal to an active young imagination, (even like my own) in the "acting" of a convincing silhouette hero in a fairy-story than there is in the undeniably flesh-and-blood attributes of impersonation of a player. Leaburn O Actually found it a real bore to watch, however I give it a decent rating because the animation is a wonder to see and is incredibly enchanting. I saw a remastered version in 4KHD on YouTube. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/23/24 Full Review S R 1001 movies to see before you die. This one certainly deserves to be on the list for its originality, art, design and story. It's a brilliant stop action movie that is very memorable. I do remember seeing bits of it before, but maybe I didn't see the whole thing? Saw on YouTube. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Kyle E I have adored animation for goodness knows how long. The Adventures of Prince Achmed isn't just a milestone, it is also a unique and stunning achievement that has stood the test of time. The silhouette animation is superb and holds up very well, and the music gives such a sweeping and magical feel to the proceedings. All the characters are engaging, not just the lead characters but also the timeless assortment of monsters and the like, and the story is so engaging, charming and elegant any worries of predictability completely fade. Overall, an animated milestone and still timeless and effective after all these years. 10/10 Bethany Cox Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Zachary V A breathtakingly beautiful film, far beyond what I expected. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. A fairly basic, in fact archetypal plot, but one rendered with such beauty and imagination that it held my attention for all of its roughly one hour running time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/23 Full Review Stephen C ****ing ***hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/23 Full Review William L I know Achmed is the protagonist and Aladdin is a major character, but watch this movie and try to tell me that the Witch is not the actual hero of this story; she's capable, generous, doesn't act out of self-interest, and does the heavy lifting where it counts. The narrative is rather dated and inconsistently paced, but the source material has quite a few years on it, and the script really only serves as a vehicle for the animation. Simple in construction but doubtlessly labor-intensive, the silhouette-based visuals still look not only distinctive but surprisingly beautiful in their unadorned form. Though the Adventures of Prince Achmed's tenuous preservation status may have prevented it from establishing a consistent place in pop culture, it is still a major component of the history of animation and a wonderf-filled viewing experience even today. Reiniger deserves much more credit for her contributions to the technical aspects of the genre and her capabilities as a director. (4/5) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/21 Full Review Read all reviews
