The dream is unusually vivid: Bank employee Vince Grayson (DeForest Kelley) finds himself murdering a man in a sinister octagonal-shaped room lined with mirrors while a mysterious woman breaks into a safe. It is so vivid, in fact, that Vince suspects it may have really happened. To get the dream off his mind, he goes on a picnic with some relatives. When a thunderstorm forces his party into a nearby mansion, Vince discovers that the bizarre room does exist, and it means nothing but trouble.

Kimberly Pierce Ticklish Business On the surface, Fear in the Night is a poverty row noir, trapped in the endless pages of the often poorly rendered, public domain movies on YouTube. However, watching Fear in the Night shows it to be quite the interesting relic of a bygone era of cinema Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 6, 2022 Full Review Michael Nordine Not Coming to a Theater Near You Its shortcomings, most of which arise from it not having aged particularly well, are ultimately offset by its ethereality. Jeff M This is a nifty little murder mystery from the 40s - nothing you'll remember a week after watching it but intriguing enough to keep you occupied for its tight 72 minutes. STAR TREK fans will certainly enjoy watching a pre-Bones DeKelley, and he gives quite an effective performance here. We feel his frustration and confusion and spend a majority of the film uncertain if he is the culprit or not. All that was missing was a young Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher stopping by to help solve the case. The denouement is a bit disappointing - and I can't say anything more without ruining the suspense. But overall, it's an entertaining if not overly memorable film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Myrthe R I'm interested in how people can drive other people towards suicide and in this film that's just the case. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/28/23 Full Review Steve D Bones can't act yet and comes off more like Kirk. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review william k Good Cornell Woolrich adaptation with a capable cast acaptures the author's nightmarish noir atmosphere quite well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good noir with a young DeForrest "Bones" Kelly contains interesting visual effects. Understated, stylish and straightforward direction. Better than you might expect with an interesting structure and story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Neat low budget noir based on Cornell Woolrich's short story, with some decent surreal touches and effects.
