nannette d BEST ACTING PRICE for ANN BANCROFT as GRIM/ GLUM / GRUMPY DEAREST " OLD " GRANNY. I DO ADVISE ALL SCHOOLS to SHOW THIS VERY MOVING MOVIE AS : LEARNING AND LISTENING LESSON(S) TO SPEAK UP FOR YOURSELF , EVEN In the AMERICAN / ENGLISH LANGUAGE. BECAUSE I MYSELF HAVE MISSED THESE KIND OF LEARNING & LISTENING MOVING MOVIE LESSONS AT OUR VERY STRICT SCHOOL in UTRECHT - HOLLAND. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/25 Full Review Ljiljana V My favourite movie! Love it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/24/25 Full Review Shiela C I've read the book when I was in 6th grade and I was just discussing the book with my 11 year old. As I was looking it up, I found the movie was made based on Cynthia Voigt's story. Watched it on Roku and it was a very lovely movie, even after all these years!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Audience Member A very good adaptation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a Showtime movie and though a "made for tv" film, it still is very much worth seeing, especially for the very fine and touching performance by Anne Bancroft. The story of 4 abandoned children who travel by foot and bus to Maryland where they find their grandmother they had never met before (Bancroft) who is living like a recluse and not wanting to now have 4 children to care for. The first half of the movie trudges along a little slowly as the story of the children traveling alone, but once Bankcroft hits the screen it's magic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member You have to admire Dicey for taking care of her siblings, after their mother abandoned them. The ending however was predictable, but it certainly doesn't take away from how charming this film is. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
