Shiela C I've read the book when I was in 6th grade and I was just discussing the book with my 11 year old. As I was looking it up, I found the movie was made based on Cynthia Voigt's story. Watched it on Roku and it was a very lovely movie, even after all these years!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Audience Member A very good adaptation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a Showtime movie and though a "made for tv" film, it still is very much worth seeing, especially for the very fine and touching performance by Anne Bancroft. The story of 4 abandoned children who travel by foot and bus to Maryland where they find their grandmother they had never met before (Bancroft) who is living like a recluse and not wanting to now have 4 children to care for. The first half of the movie trudges along a little slowly as the story of the children traveling alone, but once Bankcroft hits the screen it's magic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member You have to admire Dicey for taking care of her siblings, after their mother abandoned them. The ending however was predictable, but it certainly doesn't take away from how charming this film is. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't watch original movies too often, but this was a great movie. It's about some kids being abandoned by their mother, so they must set off on a journey to find her or someone else in the family. They end up at their grandmother's house. They're only supposed to stay there for a few days, but they find out they don't have any other place to go. Dicey (Kimberlee Peterson) and her younger brothers and sister must find any way they can to get along with their cranky grandmother (Anne Bancroft) in order to have a chance to stay there. "Homecoming" is a real good overall drama movie. Anne Bancroft and the kids give great performances and the movie will keep you interested. If you like good original drama movies, I recommend getting "Homecoming" if you can find it. NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000. This is definitely a great, underrated drama movie, since it was TV-only (Showtime, then USA) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Yeahl it's a made for TV movie but I liked Anne Bancroft as the grouchy old grandmother. Plus, it takes place locally in Crisfield, MD! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
