Macklin (Alec Baldwin), a hit man with a passion for rare jazz records, accepts what he thinks is a routine job. The hit turns out to be a setup, though, because Pointy (Michael Jai White), an up-and-coming gangster, wants Macklin out of the way. When Macklin realizes who's behind the setup, the two criminals enter into an increasingly deadly cat-and-mouse game. Before long, the feud expands to include tough female cop Petrone (Rebecca De Mornay) and top Mafia bosses.

Matt F I'm not sure how I missed this when it first released in 1999. Just watched it the other day after I found it on the streaming service. Alec Baldwin, Michael Jai White and Andre Braugher were very good in it as well as Robert Miano. The jazz soundtrack was superb. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Lisa P This is one of my Top 10 favorites! Witty, funny and thoroughly entertaining!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Audience Member A clever and funny movie - one of my favorites. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member An amusing morality tale about the pitfalls of being a pretentious cheapskate Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Though ultimately a familiar story, Thick as Thieves departs from the lone assassin archetype and instead makes it more of a buddy criminal movie with a quirky sense of humor. Alec Baldwin is at his usual best, with the rest of the film being made up of familiar character actors. Who doesn't work, however, is Michael Jai White, who was completely over-the-top, and seemingly out of place the entire movie. The film also certainly lacks at character development, we never appreciate the camaraderie or history behind the characters. Still, for all of its going through the motions, it is always watchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member awesome awesome jazz soundtrack... the best... late 50's and 60's id say... decent movie for what it is... we liked!
