Critics Consensus

A sweet ensemble comedy about a high school reunion, 10 Years is well cast but unfortunately predictable and short on three dimensional characters.

Katey Rich CinemaBlend To hate 10 Years is like hating the enthusiastic girl who organizes your high school reunion-- can you really be so mean when so much effort was made and a reasonably good time was had by all? Rated: 3/5 Dec 5, 2012 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle The ingredients are there, but not the follow-through: This resolutely niceness-first film just won't stir the pot. Rated: 2/5 Oct 5, 2012 Full Review Cary Darling Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com 10 Years is no Big Chill, but it has just enough warmth to keep it alive. Rated: 3/5 Sep 22, 2012 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Save the time and expense of going to your own reunion. 10 Years covers it all...and it's a lot more fun. Nov 27, 2019 Full Review Patrick Bromley F This Movie! It is a movie of small truths, usually well observed. Colin M School-leavers get together 10 years later for a reunion. Bland, mostly not-very-interesting fare. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/24 Full Review Kirsten W I really liked this movie. I didn't find it predictable. It felt embarrassing at times, but in the end I really liked it, Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Bernie M Great cast, but wow this was underwhelming. Pratt plays the same bully who peaked in high school in Take Me Home Tonight, except without any consequences for his actions in this one. Some of the sub-plots and characters could've been 86'ed from the movie entirely and nothing would've changed. If there were to be a plot to focus on, I wish it would've been on Oscar Isaac and Kate Mara. Their chemistry was great and looking back, Isaac's foreshadowing performance and the writing was subtle and fantastic. Ron Livingston is barely in this, has done nothing wrong and yet is portrayed as some silent bad guy. Overall, I think it's worth a watch. Maybe your own high school experience dictates your level of enjoyment. Some will like it, some will hate it and a select few may love it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Melissa D The cast makes this movie fun. But the story is good too. It's a good look at how different life is after high school and how deeply we can be affected by our first love. I recommend it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Will W Great movie and good character development and progression. Felt engaged and identified with many of the characters. Overall, I thought it was a great movie that was exempt for all the wokeness and politically charged themes in modern day films.
