Critics Consensus

Though it has its funny moments, this remake is essentially a one-joke movie with too many flat spots.

Andrew H @Philosoraptor Dec 11 A clever and funny film. The thing I really enjoyed about this movie was that it remained funny without resorting to vulgarity. I had just finished watching The Hangover for the first time brfore watching this film, also for the first time, and couldn’t really enjoy it because it was all just gross out humor. This was a fresh breath. See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Nov 28 An absolutely brilliant performance from Elizabeth Hurley and Brenden Frasier! Incredible writing with a unique twist! See more Rich S @RPS1963 Oct 30 The best thing one can write about Bedazzled is that it hasn't aged well. A statement like that might at least give a movie-watcher hope that it was good at some point. Maybe. But don't get your hopes up. This is Harold Ramis at his worst, digging up the "deal with the devil" trope and putting that filthy beast in a costume worn by Elizabeth Hurley. Just watching this drivel might set women back 20 more years. You might catch glimpses of Brendan Fraser tapping into his "pitiful" mask that made him an Oscar winner. Who knows? This might have been what casting directors saw of Fraser before they made him "The Whale." See more thiago s @Thiagostone Oct 18 Filme ruim, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são ruins, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Shannon S Oct 14 What makes this film so enjoyable is its blend of situational irony and commentary on human desire. Each of Elliot’s wishes—whether for wealth, intelligence, or romance—backfires in a clever, ironic way, exposing how shallow or short-sighted those desires can be. The movie doesn't have the sophistication or British humor like the original, but it’s about the all-too-human habit of believing that one perfect thing will finally make us happy. Sure, the structure is a bit formulaic, and comedy is subjective, but I found it hilarious. It’s like going to a good comedy club—not because the setup is a surprise, but because the punchlines land with sharp, ironic timing.
