Penelope Y Aug 20 "Door to Door was nominated for twelve Emmy Awards and won six, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie and Outstanding Lead Actor for William H. Macy. It also earned a prestigious Peabody Award." After learning this, I knew I had to watch it and I was surprised I had never heard of it before, given its accolades. I’m glad I did, because this touching true story did not disappoint. It moved me so much that I found myself wanting to learn more about the real Bill Porter. The film is elevated by a wonderful cast, with William H. Macy delivering a heartfelt lead performance, supported beautifully by Kathy Baker and Kyra Sedgwick. It’s a film that truly pulls on your heartstrings, reminding us of a time when community, compassion, and human connection mattered deeply. Watching it gave me hope that those values still endure.
