Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is emotionally satisfying, but logically inscrutable. Rated: 6/10 Aug 27, 2019 Full Review Jean-François Vandeuren Panorama Shion Sono tente beaucoup plus de choquer son public [...] que de cerner adquatement son sujet dont le potentiel justifiait amplement la mise en chantier Rated: 5/10 Sep 22, 2005 Full Review Mel Valentin eFilmCritic.com Rated: 3/5 Jun 25, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...contains an outstanding premise, but mucks it up with inexplicable plot developments and an infuriatingly open-ended conclusion. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 25, 2004 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com Harrowing Rated: 4/5 Nov 30, 2003 Full Review David Cornelius eFilmCritic.com The film's an odd blend of mystery, social commentary, experimental freak-out, and all-out horror, and while the blend doesn't always work... it works well enough. william d Interesting concept, but I knew going in that it would be difficult to come up with a credible reason why so many people would start killing themselves. In my opinion the film makers failed to meet the challenge. I was intrigued for most of the movie, but the last twenty minutes or so were a disappointment. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review David S Relatively mindless, gory, especially the second half of the film. The whole critique is lost when the only thing taken into account is how much blood and viscera they can show on screen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/24/22 Full Review justin t It was a bit of a mess. I think that it was a bad transfer as there was a massive smudge down the whole right-hand side. The dark scenes were way too dark and it lacked definition. The effects were ample for the situation. The camera movement was horrible. It didn't really make sense to me. There were some good ideas going on but overall it lacked coherent plot. It was very non-creative use of camera and sound. There is one slightly supernatural scene that really stands out to me as it had no relation to the plot whatsoever. Some of the gore it grotesque. Apart from some interesting ideas near the end this felt like it was written by lots of different people who had been given the overall brief but not given other people's sections. Don't try to find sense in this. Can be trash entertainment if you watch for the suicides. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member zzz un saludo a los halcones Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Controversial subject matter in this movie doesn't make for any genuine scares or thrills. The direction and dialogue lacked in alot of places. Although I couldn't stop watching, the whole proceedings were totally grim. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Suicide club is of all elements that a horror film needs: bloody and harrowing scenes, a thrilling feeling that compels audience to watch till the end and an underlying message warning about the social side-effects of the incredibly fast advancement of technology in modern world and human ignorance. It also tries to touch on the philosophy about the connection between body and awareness. However, the conclusion and answer to the mass sucidal events is not convincing and childish. In addition, music, one of the most significant part exaggerating the gore of the movie gets on my nerves when the weirdos play disturbing electrical guitar song. All in all, it is a low budget film so there must be some flaws but it is still worth watching for fans of this genre. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
