Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) The film's sometimes downbeat tone can't help but evoke memories of Philip Larkin's The Whitsun Weddings. Rated: 2/5 Jun 13, 2014 Full Review Jenny McCartney Daily Telegraph (UK) 112 Weddings is a bittersweet portrait of the state of modern marriage, as interpreted by a New York wedding photographer. Rated: 4/5 Jun 13, 2014 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Disappointingly, the obvious question of Block's own marital/domestic situation is avoided. It's an entertaining study, though. Rated: 3/5 Jun 12, 2014 Full Review Peter Counter That Shelf The documentary 112 Weddings is misleading in a number of ways. It’s nothing more than a vain waste of time. Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Jordan M. Smith IONCINEMA.com Simple in execution, but unmistakably rich in dialogue of the complexities of married life, Doug Block has lensed a wonderfully playful, startlingly tragic film. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 21, 2020 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie When Block explores these kinds of ideas, 112 Weddings makes for a fascinating watch, but his thesis can be boiled down to "Weddings are easy. Marriage is hard." Audience Member How did all these weddings end up years later? Nobody had the slightest idea what they were about to put themselves through. And then there's children & houses. Oh my. Its a total throw of the dice whether it'll all turn out good or bad or in between. To be quite honest there's really no reason for it besides legal obligations & rewards being formalized, soul mate nonsense being so much hoowee. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review greg r Spectacular. The realities of marriage, told by the videographer. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I found this doc to cover a very complete spectrum of the institution of marriage in a very funny, heartfelt and intelligent way. Highly recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Fascinating documentary on everything that inevitably happens years after the wedding - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I like to watch documentaries but this was a complete waste of time. nice interviews with people he had filmed their weddings but this is just everyone's day to day life. We all have friends like this and talk to them every day. Yes a documentary is record of life however I would like some educational or enlightening in it. I learned nothing from this but how to waste time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a wonderful movie: by turns funny, romantic, touching, tragic, and profound, it leaves one with a profound respect for both the institution of marriage, and those who enter into it, even when-in their humanness and with the best of intentions-it fails. You walk away with a real view of what love really is, and great admiration for those that remain together in the face of life's curveballs.
