bill t One of those "smart criminals who aren't such bad guys after all because they're funny, smart and witty" that seemed to have a genre on their own in the late 30s. This British one features Tom Walls as the rumoured crackerjack, an expert jewel thief who robs from the rich and gives to the poor! And he's written a book about it! While everyone is trying to figure out who has written this book, he's out doing another caper, stealing some pearls! Even badder guys try to outsmart him.. Can that happen? Not a bad show, well acted and has a good pace. I wasn't too sold on Mr. Walls though, he's sort of a smarmy looking fellow and not really what this part should have had. Had the lead role been cast with someone at least 15 years younger, the whole movie would have deserved more than 3.5 stars. The role of Jack Drake needed someone like David Niven or Cary Grant.
