Chuck O'Leary FulvueDrive-in.com Nothing special, but competently made by Seagal's usual direct-to-DVD standards. William D This is absolutely one of the worst films I have ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review jelisije j Some decent action, but the story pacing is so bad that your better off skipping half of this movie run time. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is actually better thank expected. Steven Seagal stars in his standard cool, collected, lead role. Taking place in Japan appears to offer him an additional level of comfort and familiarity in this one that raises the level a bit. Japan is an additional character. Seagal investigates the assassination of Tokyo's Governor leads him on the path of a gang of Yakuza aligned with Chinese Tongs who are out of control. Ken Lo, famous for Drunken Master II, is good as one of the Tong leaders. Andrew Davis in the role of the young FBI investigator is among the worst performances you will ever witness. Not a lot of fighting but what there is, is good. The sword use is excellent and elevates the film. If you like Seagal a lot add a half a star. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Steve carries himself really well in movies normally except this one he was never really in character and the film therefore never really shifted into gear. Until the finger chopping scene there wasn't really much going on. As you'd expect they tee Steve off with a bunch of scrawny Chinese guys who he strangely just has to poke in the eye to make them hit the ground. The film lacks that cutting edge we see any let's say Van Damme movies and perhaps this hard man persona doesn't quite wash at times with because most of Steve's movies are forgettable and boring with over the top gun flashing or finger removal. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member While Half Past Dead was Seagal's so-bad-it's-good movie of his theatrical run, this is in the running for that of his straight-to-video career. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Thankfully Steven Seagal kills two slopes in the beginning scene otherwise a black guy would die first. Oh no if they would have cut the beginning scene, there would be no black guy dying first. But well you shouldn't ignore the suffering of the blacks.
