Becca S Another down to earth classic from Tsukamoto where he takes on the erotic thriller genre Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/23 Full Review dave s Well…that was odd. How to describe…it would probably be fair to say that A Snake of June is to cinema as Jackson Pollock is to painting, meaning that a very small percentage will fully appreciate and understand it, an equally small percentage will claim that they fully appreciate and understand it, and a large percentage that will walk away frustrated and puzzled with only a small amount of appreciation and understanding. The story, in a very small nutshell, involves a woman who becomes sexually liberated as the result of her interactions with a blackmailing voyeur, which is a bit offensive to start with. Stylistically, the film is presented in a grainy monochrome with all sorts of weird angles and some odd editing choices. It is lovely to look at, at times, but is equally frustrating to watch at other times. It's probably safe to say that it's a mixed bag that will be loved by some and hated by an equal number. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review william d Man, that was bizarre. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully filmed with very good acting & a powerful social community. one of Shinya Tsukamoto's best films, which is underrated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member An ill man forces a female telephone operator to act out his sexual fantasies with her obsessive husband. Once again, Tsukamoto examines fetishism in a daring and idiosyncratic visual way, exploring the relationship between human alienation and human relationships with 'the machine'. The filmmaker, with this film, christened himself as one of the main exponents of the experimental scene. A Snake of June is an eccentric stylistic exercise that will certainly find its detractors and every now and again feels self-indulgent, but one must admire it for its psychedelic and nightmarish audacity. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review cesare m I like the idea and the vintage style too. Too bad that ultimately Tsukamoto n't avoid being Tsukamoto Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
