Andrew G I like that they didn't stick to trying to copy from the movie or the book and that they took chances to put their spin on it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Anton B Really, really bad. It looks great and it's clear Disney had a lot of money to spend here, but that's about all the good things there are to say about this movie. In stark contrast to the story and characters we're all familiar with, the plot feels empty. Instead of the tin man, Disney should've found a heart. Dorothy is rude and selfish making it hard to root for her. Todo is a problematic and obnoxious sidekick that adds nothing to the film. The cameo's are completely pointless. Overacting makes it feel like an hour-long commercial. And the wicked witch doesn't even say the iconic phrase "Oh what a world, what a world!" when she melts. Absolutely nothing of the depth of story and feeling from the original Wizard of Oz and the Muppets, survived in this Disney remake. They absolutely butchered two of the most iconic TV phenomena of the last century in one fell swoop. Half a star for the production value, as that's all there is to this movie: cosmetics. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Chris M I can see why this is the lowest rated classic story played by Muppets. Where "Muppets Treasure Island" and "Muppets Christmas Carol" had jokes and fourth wall break, they stayed faithful to the classic story. This goes over the top goofy with elements of "The Wiz" for some reason. Like not having the Wicked Witch until near the end and adding characters that wasn't in the Wizard of Oz or any Oz book that I'm aware of. Like I said her aunt is a real bitch and Dorothy not wanting to go home is an odd choice. This is Oz not the Flipside from "Kidd Video". Plus, there are surprisingly a lot of horny Muppets in this one. There are like several hidden sex jokes that aren't really hidden well. It's not awful, it's still good. Major flaws but good. It's goofy but funny. The music and the cast do a great job. It's worth checking out, mainly if you're a Muppet completionist. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review cai d Not an awful movie, but the worst of the bunch. It was obviously rushed and skipped through a lot of key moments from the original book. On the other hand, the costumes are incredible: Kermit as the scarecrow, Miss Piggy as all of the witches, Gonzo as the tin man and Fozzie as the cowardly lion. Simply perfect! Personally, if you're going to watch this film, bear in mind that it was a TV special.
