Ty Burr Boston Globe This 28th entry in Toho Studio's series about the fire-breathing big fella is campily engaging for a while, but at two hours-plus you may come out feeling captivated dead. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 5, 2005 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment While Godzilla: Final Wars has generally stood as a divisive entry among fans, the kind of energy the film possesses allows it to stand out as a Godzilla film perfect for a midnight crowd. Rated: 7/10 Oct 6, 2025 Full Review Kevin L. Lee Film Inquiry It's clear that director Ryuhei Kitamura approached the material with the sole intention of creating the mother of all monster rumbles. Jun 7, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy Some kind of unholy hybrid of Godzilla, The Matrix, and Star Wars. Rated: 5/10 May 13, 2014 Full Review Steve Biodrowski ESplatter This 50th anniversary grand finale to the long-running series is a rush of explosive excitement that pays homage to what came before but hypes it up into a kinetic brew that feels fresh and exciting %u2014 not an obituary-like coda but a glorious send-off Jul 11, 2008 Full Review Andrew Kasch Dread Central ...the story is about on par with the Xbox games. Mania I. Completely bonkers Godzilla movie designed to be the final Godzilla movie but we know that was never going to happen. This movie is part matrix part and Poseidon adventure part big critter movie is all over the map with all sorts of things. It's a lot of fun if you don't take it seriously. It's typical Godzilla affair with him fighting every monster in his universe including Zilla from the Matthew Broderick American Godzilla movies that nobody likes it I kind of do. If you're looking for a good popcorn movie this is the one it's a lot of action it has a lot of heart and it is just so bonker crazy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/25 Full Review Khaliel P Godzilla: Final Wars celebrates the 50th anniversary of the franchise and concludes the Millennium era, with director Ryuhei Kitamura orchestrating an epic showdown between Godzilla and a dozen of his most formidable foes. The film opens with Godzilla imprisoned under a glacier, only for aliens and a host of kaiju—including classic monsters like Anguirus, Ebirah, Mothra, and CGI Zilla—to unleash chaos worldwide. While human storylines dominate the first hour, Godzilla eventually awakens to battle Monster X and the returning Ghidorah, culminating in spectacular, manga-inspired action sequences. With impressive practical effects and CGI, the film pays homage to Godzilla’s legacy, marking the end of 50 years of Japanese kaiju cinema before the franchise transitions to Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/25 Full Review The D. A fun stupid Godzilla movie in all the right ways Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Vincent W Just like some other Goji entries, this film is definitely not for everybody, but for what it has to offer: Captain Gordon is the biggest bad@ss Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/25 Full Review Rex E It was cool but plenty of boring parts that made me thinkg it wasn't a goodzilla movie, could be better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/04/25 Full Review Gus F For Tohos at the time finale, it could've been better but as you see in my other reviews, im a lifelong godzilla fan, its never stopped and I love this movie. Great godzilla design, the kaiju are too weak other than monster x and keizer Ghidorah, but you can't not like this movie. It's a fun watch.
