To haze a group of cute incoming freshmen, college kid Ritchie (Jason Lasater) pranks the pretty coeds by locking them in an abandoned insane asylum. The girls have to endure five hours in the sanitarium while Ritchie sends his pals to frighten them. The plan goes off the rails when the boys realize they aren't the only ones doing the scaring. Ritchie tries to sort things out, only to get locked in the asylum himself and realize that a supernatural presence is there, looking for blood.

It's not just that Death Tunnel is cheap, derivative, and clearly made by folks with more enthusiasm than talent; it's that Death Tunnel is the horror flick equivalent of elevator Muzak.

What an absolutely horrid waste of 1,5 hour. Awful acting, filming, scoring and storytelling. Half of everything was out of focus as well, which was a good thing if you didn't want to see any more of it.

While it contains a fascinating setting that I wish more ghost films would explore (Waverly Hills Sanatorium, look it up it is quite interesting, and frightening) Death Tunnel contains far too much terrible dialogue, plot holes, unexplained character motivations, and unlikable characters to justify watching it.
