David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...touching and genuinely romantic... Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 12, 2006 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com If Only this weren't one of the sappiest, stupidest, silliest, and most vacuously meaningless romantic comedies I've ever had the misfortune to waste 96 minutes of my life upon ... I'd have some nicer things to say. Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 18, 2006 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com it's too maudlin and depressing to make for a good romantic drama and it's way too sappy to work as a drama/thriller Rated: 2.5/5 May 21, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Claudio C A Wonderful Romance About Love 11,561 – 25 Mar 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho In London, the American Samantha “Sam” Andrews (Jennifer Love Hewitt) from Ohio is in love with the British Ian Wyndham (Paul Nicholls). Sam is concluding her music course in a prestigious school and is a music teacher while Ian is an ambitious workaholic that prioritizes his work to Sam. On the day that she graduates playing violin with her mates in a concert, Ian forgets but his secretary Claire (Diana Hardcastle) warns him. Sam wishes that he travels with her to Ohio to meet her family, but Ian will travel to Johannesburg to work. Ian watches her concert with Sam’s best friend Lottie (Lucy Davenport); does not pay much attention to her favorite student; and goes with her to a restaurant to have dinner. When Sam learns that he will travel to Johannesburg, she breaks up with him and takes a cab. But at the next traffic light, the taxi driver (Tom Wilkinson) crosses the green light but is hit by another car and Sam dies. When the depressed and grieving Ian wakes up on the next morning, Sam is on the bed with him. Did he have a dream? Or a premonition? It is amazing, but I have bought the DVD “If Only” (2004) for more than twenty years but only today I have seen it. What a loss! This movie is a wonderful romance about love. The plot is not original since there are many movies with similar themes. But it is worthwhile watching it. Jennifer Love Hewitt has always been a beautiful actress but in this film, her beauty and smile shine, showing a magnificent chemistry with Paul Nicholls. The sad ending does not jeopardize this splendid love story. My vote is eight. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review Tina K Sweet and predictable story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/07/23 Full Review Audience Member my favorite movie of all time! watched it more than 20 times and i cried every single time. really the best movie ever Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It was poorly executed and just worse than any D-CoM I'd ever seen. The end almost seemed to be a twist to pull a twist because the foreshadowing was lazy and sloppy. Also, seemed to imply that Samantha, the Jennifer Love Hewitt character's life was far more important than Ian's because ART. I know that's not what the movie was trying to clumsily say, but in the end this movie left such a bad taste in my mouth. It's also hardly any wonder to my mind why this film barely made a sixth of its budget back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
