Todd (Jonathan Bray) goes on a coffee date set up by his brother, but finds that he's the butt of a practical joke. The woman named Kelly he's supposed to meet is actually a gay man. As revenge, the pair pretend to be a real couple. The scope of the ruse widens when Todd's mother learns the news and goes out of her way to support her now out-of-the-closet son. While some of Todd's friends are surprised, others say they knew all along -- prompting Todd to wonder if maybe the joke is on him.

Kerry Lengel Arizona Republic It's clever and sweet and pretty consistently funny. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 9, 2007 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Leaving no clich unturned, Coffee Date provides cheesy music, chats about gaydar and the obligatory are-you-looking-at-mine? urinal scene. Rated: 2/5 Feb 14, 2007 Full Review Michael Fox Village Voice A warmhearted tale carried by genuine affection and a charming cast rather than cutting one-liners and turbo-charged plotting. Feb 13, 2007 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens [M]ake a date for COFFEE DATE. Guaranteed to be rich, smooth and flavorful. Nov 7, 2019 Full Review Phil Hall Film Threat Honestly, this awful little movie should have stayed in the closet. Rated: 0/5 Dec 6, 2007 Full Review Brian Orndorf eFilmCritic.com Coffee Date is a film of small objectives, yet still achieves a fully-realized emotional state that's genuine, even in the midst of broad comedy. Audience Member Finally got through this movie. Interesting with some funny moments. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Likeable cast, pedestrian effort. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member wow! this was 2nd movie today i watched with gay stuff in it! and i really liked this movie! besides - main gay character was really hot! hehe:) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Una comedia de un "macho calado" muy indie, pero creo que muy bien lograda, no se debe tomar muy en serio pues es en tono de farsa, sobre los prejuicios de la gente y el miedo irracional que tantos tienen por ser señalados. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member While this was enjoyable to watch, it still felt a a bit fake. It just didn't ring true. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Midly charming and sweet, even tough the low production values. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
