Noise starts with an interesting premise, but fails to build it into a cohesive whole.

Claudia Puig USA Today Amid the seasonal din of so many raucous summer blockbusters, Noise offers blessed relief in the form of a strong central performance, sharp dialogue and edgy humor. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 18, 2008 Full Review Carina Chocano Los Angeles Times How can you resist a hero who gets worked up because a car alarm disrupts his extremely tenuous grasp on a difficult but life altering passage of Hegel? Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 18, 2008 Full Review Jay Weissberg Variety Amusing but marginal. Sep 25, 2008 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed Could have and should have been a demented little gem, but as it is, it's just a muddled, sloppy, and often incoherent little rant about New York... Sep 4, 2010 Full Review Lee Marshall Screen International Having hooked us with the tagline, director Henry Bean never seems to be sure quite where to run with it. Oct 18, 2008 Full Review John P. Luke E Incoherent, pretentious, self indulgent, parochial rant w a tired cast Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review dave s While the premise is interesting and the subject is certainly something that most city dwellers can relate to, Noise ultimately sinks under the weight of its own excesses. David Owen lives in Manhattan with his wife and young daughter. Like most people, he finds the constant drone of the city annoying and ultimately takes matters into his own hands, vandalizing cars with activated alarms, among other things. The film suffers from too many affectations (freeze-frames, split screens, etc), as well as a non-linear storyline that unnecessarily muddles the plot and too many montages of the protagonist vandalizing vehicles. It could have been an interesting character study had it shown a bit more restraint and delved more into why David reacted is such an extreme manner. Instead, it just becomes tiresome. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Watching this trailer was therapy for me today due to a car alarm going off for 30 seconds every 30 seconds on the street outside my apartment for over an hour. It worked! Great laughs, I love this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This interesting social drama regrettably fails to echo with our attention at the end. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review alex k My Favorite Film Is 1941's Citizen Kane.
