Amy Nicholson I.E. Weekly There are worse movies, but most restrain themselves to only one scene of Daniel Stern learning to salsa. Rated: D- May 15, 2008 Full Review John Anderson Variety Despite the occasional detour into mawkishness, "A Previous Engagement" nicely balances unutterable truths about marriage and love with the comedy that is human interaction and the unending drama that is man and women, repulsion and attraction. May 12, 2008 Full Review Philip Marchand Toronto Star This is a romantic comedy where the romance is too fraught with implications for a comedy, and the treatment of character is too flippant for a romance. Rated: 2/4 May 9, 2008 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Get engaged with A Previous Engagement -- a wistful, hopeful romantic comedy you'll fall in love with over and over again. Nov 14, 2019 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher [H]its every single damn note in precisely the wrong way... strains for screwball and misses entirely... May 10, 2008 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide A little more [bitterness] would have gone a long way to offsetting the film's sticky sweetness. Audience Member a woman travels to malta to keep a promise she made 25 yrs b4. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was good in the beginning, then the main charactor got very annoying. First she isn't happy in her marriage, so thinks about being with her first true love, then when she has the opportunity to be reunited with her first true love, she still isn't happy. Annoying !! She's also a worry wart ! Annoying ! This type of person is so annoying because they can't be happy and always focus on what they don't have..and ruin it for the people that are in their life. I couldn't stand her personality, but liked the story line and the Malta Scenery. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member BORING! Never completed it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Quirky but nice. An unpretentious, funny movie that's totally shot on the fantastic island of Malta. A joy to watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Quirky but nice.
