Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) Carr is frighteningly good as Anna and the final few frames are marrow-chilling. Rated: 3/5 Feb 6, 2018 Full Review Anil Sinanan Times (UK) At times this is a disturbingly brilliant portrayal of a derailed and deranged life. Oct 25, 2017 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) None too persuasive. Nov 16, 2007 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews An art-house spin on Fatal Attraction... Rated: 2/4 Apr 6, 2008 Full Review Matthew Turner thelondonpaper Isabelle Carr is superb as Anna, but the problem is the tone. Caught between psychological study and thriller, it aims for both - but achieves neither. Rated: 3/5 Nov 16, 2007 Full Review Daily Mirror (UK) Isabelle Carr brings a raw emotion to this French language film that elevates it from a so-so psychological drama to something deeply chilling. Audience Member I was always behind the 8 ball with this fascinating movie, and was totally flummoxed by the ending, had she descended in to a complete delusional state, having a child, then not having one, was she still in the mental asylum? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member French language with subtitles Writer-Director: Michel Spinosa With Isabelle Carre Anna (Isabelle Carre) seems to be an attractive quiet, studious worker in the manuscript repair department of a Paris museum. But she hides a hidden madness that is revealed as the story unfolds. Early on, there is a mysterious intent to commit suicide by stepping into traffic, but ends up with broken legs. Then a few scenes later she is getting physical therapy from a handsome, kind but professional Dr Zanevsky. And like a chick imprinting on its mother, she latches on to him with a delusional, erotic obsession of which he remains unaware for a time. Now it enters bunny-boiler territory as she stalks him, sends messages of devotion which the good doctor tries to rebuff. But no matter what he does, he cannot get her to stop. She is not homicidal though - when sneaking up behind his wife at an underground station she stops herself from pushing her into the line. But her madness continues until her bizzare behaviour warrants her commitment to an asylum. But after a few months she manages to convince the doctors that she is cured. Not surprisingly, the doctor and his wife have escaped from Paris and she as she fails to find them, her madness descends into nightmarish hallucinations. She seems to find a semblance of normality towards the end - but the final scene makes it apparent that she is as obsessed as ever. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Cette Isabelle Carre est vraiment folle! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Disturbing, but engaging depiction of a dangerous obsession through a sincere depiction - although this plot has certainly been done before. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Increasingly unhinged female-stalker film that starts off as a rip-off of The Piano Teacher, but moves past its early penchant for pretentious navel gazing (literally) and develops into something genuinely unsettling and blackly comic, with a masterful performance by Isabelle Carre in the title role. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Some hand over mouth moments, the kind of film that plucks into your imagination. If you can handle subtitles then this film isn't so bad Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
