Audience Member Finished the movie as confused about it's purpose as when I started it. If it weren't for Jay McCarroll's honest, sharp and interesting personality (and the desire to see his creations), I'm not sure this documentary would have had anything substantial to say. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Stylishly done, but without a real point of view or reason to exist. Makes you appreciate what the editors of "Project Runway" do cutting the same kind of material (pun intended) into a tight, fairly dramatic 50 minutes on a weekly basis. If you were a Jayfan, help yourself - if not, don't bother. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a huge fan of Project Runway, but not much of a fan of its very first winner, Jay McCarroll. Still I appreciated this doc's goal of showing the ongoing battle between artistic integrity and commercial viability. Good fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Allison Williams Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 16, 2011 Full Review Alexis Loinaz Chicago Tribune McCarroll is as cocky and cantankerous as he is compelling, which leads to a glut of histrionic moments, including spectacular scuffles with his publicists and his staff. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2009 Full Review Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer McCarroll comes off as a likable and talented guy, amazingly calm as the Big Moment arrives and the guy making his models' shoes is nowhere to be found. Rated: 3/4 Mar 6, 2009 Full Review Richard Knight Windy City Times Jay McCarroll is surprisingly endearing in a familiar fashion doc. Mar 7, 2009 Full Review Chris Barsanti Filmcritic.com ...a more real piece of work than one would expect.
