Simon Abrams Village Voice Possessed camerawork, elliptical editing, and a discordantly playful score (by Ennio Morricone!) conspire against viewers and establish this as one of Argento's most suspenseful efforts. Mar 17, 2015 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times There are a few scary moments in the dark. But then there's that image-on-the-retina gimmick, which we can't believe, and a conclusion that's so arbitrary we feel tricked. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine As far as Argento films go, none come weirder than the little-seen Four Flies on Grey Velvet. Rated: 3/4 Dec 4, 2001 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It resorts to the basic subterfuges of the genre and falls into the predictable, rejecting any possibility of surprise with his stiff characters. There is nothing shocking about his giallo horror reveal. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Jul 25, 2020 Full Review Rob Hunter Film School Rejects Rated: C+ Feb 25, 2012 Full Review Fernando F. Jonathan O Argento's final animal trilogy is the best for last of the 70's and I own the 4K remaster and it looks really great including the famous slow motion climax and what a beautiful haunting score by the great Ennio Morricone. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Dave C It's most definitely a 70's film! Lol. That music score(!) is quite possibly the highlight of the movie to be honest. There is no real thrill or suspense at all, and the whole thing feels rigid and poorly written - not to mention the woody acting! It's a really poor example of such a great era for horror. I understand it may not be a fair representation of Argento's work, so I shall have to watch some of his other works before including him more fully in reviews Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Elvis D El tercer y último capítulo de la trilogía de los animales es una película bastante impecable, con un estupendo aspecto en la fotografía y en el montaje, dándole un aspecto en ciertos momentos psicodélicos y un estilo de elegancia. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review marco b A drummer witnesses a murder and is blackmailed by the killer, who has also framed him for the crime.
