Ted Fry Seattle Times A noble entry into the real world of timeless and truly independent American cinema. Rated: 3/4 Mar 30, 2007 Full Review Desson Thomson Washington Post Unfortunately, the storyfollows too uninvolving a course to make the movie as powerful as it could have been. But that shouldn't stop audiences drawing satisfaction from its textures. Mar 29, 2007 Full Review Wesley Morris Boston Globe A small, plaintive, modestly made film about how one bad decision can wreck a life. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 9, 2007 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seattle Post-Intelligencer The simple images and unobtrusive style have an authenticity that overcomes the rougher performances and folksy fringes of the drama... Rated: B Mar 29, 2007 Full Review Laura Kelly South Florida Sun-Sentinel The Islander places its generic, troubled-guy plot within a small lobstering community on an island off the coast of Maine. Rated: 2/4 Mar 22, 2007 Full Review Robin Clifford Reeling Reviews Islander is a well crafted film that has a lot of heart and soul. Rated: B- Mar 8, 2007 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Great story set around small island life, close communities, the need to fight for survival, and forgiveness. Beautiful scenery. Enjoyed the raw filming, natural. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I was amazed at this little find...I was browsing the shelves at the local library and this DVD caught my eye. At first glance, it wouldn't have been a movie that I'd have put on my list of things to watch, but I'm glad I took the time to find it. The scenery and cinematography was beautiful. The movie and the storyline was heartbreaking and has a sad undertone to it, but it was worth it. So, read the film info and check it out for yourself. Personally, I liked it more than I thought I would... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The film starts out very promising, but about halfway through it gets bogged down a bit and is a little too slow moving. It is well acted by all, well photographed as well. It?s a good story, it?s just not that exciting.
