      Critics Consensus

It doesn't take its terrific premise quite as far as it should, but Splice is a smart, well-acted treat for horror fans.

Arthur B A daring and unique genre splitting picture, everything in Splice was very well done and definitely would have benefited from more of it. Considering this is an independent film with a limited budget, it's a very good sci-fi with top notch visual effects. The end feels rushed most likely because they ran out of money and it's almost annoying how close it came to achieving greatness, but it's believable and fascinating throughout however people expecting to be terrified or truly freaked out will probably be disappointed. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Sylvie C Avoid this movie at all costs. Awful acting, disturbing concepts and images that stick with you, and just a really long convoluted "message" about the dangers of scientific experimentation that could have been summed up better in a more powerful, less gross way. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2010 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) I love the character of Dren, which is nerd spelt backwards. I loved the relationship between her and her putative parents: Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley.
