What to Know

Critics Consensus

Stuffed with characters and overly reliant on uninspired dialogue, Eclipse won't win The Twilight Saga many new converts, despite an improved blend of romance and action fantasy.

Alex Vega Autostraddle I wanted "terrible/AWESOME" and all we got was painfully terrible. I am upset. Jul 13, 2021 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast It's better than New Moon (because something actually happens), but both Jacob and Edward are insufferable and Bella's decision to become a vampire remains irrational. Janky FX, not enough Dallas Howard and bad wigs sink the ship. Paulina It was amazing to be able to watch it again on the big screen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/25 Full Review Jens B 'Some say the world will perish in fire, some say in ice. But after I've tasted the pleasure, I believe in fire.' For the third part, David Slade takes the helm and delivers the best "Twilight" film to date. The color grading is within acceptable limits, the visual effects have improved considerably, the music is OK and the dialogue is no longer as blatantly stupid as in the two previous films. In addition, the third attempt finally has antagonists who have the minimum level of presence so that they are not forgotten again immediately after the credits. Like Bella, I have now come to terms with her role as a passive female being whose goal in life will be marriage. The problem with the many small improvements in "Eclipse" is this: the trash factor is mostly missing. Yes, you can still have a lot of fun with this film. But the level of garbage, especially in the first part, is no longer reached. The film is made too competently for that. Instead of a series of WTF moments, it is often boring. And just because "Eclipse" is better made doesn't mean that Bella, Edward and Jacob's third big screen adventure is even remotely good. Because you can't even call it an adventure. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Tommy D Good continuity 7/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Hambone H Bella is the true villain of this series Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review jakov s God, so, "Eclipse" let's just get in to it. So, things I didn't like were: love triangle is badly made Bella is just switching from Jackob to Edward and and vice versa (I get ti from the half of the movie because she needs to have Jackob's smell on her but still), to many excessive kissing scenes (again), intimate scene (Bella and Edward) that we didn't need, some too cliched and predicitble dialogs (from Jackob), and Bella being so irritating with "I want you to change me". Things I did like: fight scenes were really well made, cgi still ok, character background stories were really interesting although short, I also liked braking vampires cgi and flying glass particles from it, plot was... ok, and screenplay aswell. So, it is slightly not bad but definitely not my favorite. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Samuel W This may be my least favorite Twilight movie so far. It was, however, still pretty entertaining with the unnatural characters as always and ridiculous storylines. I guess I should have expected this, but the entire movie felt so pointless and against its own self. The whole thing was unpredictable in a very bad way and just restated things from the past two movies before ruining plotlines before they reach their necessary climax. The film leaves you wanting more than it gave and was ultimately not a memorable addition to the franchise thus far. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Read all reviews
