Andrew Schenker Slant Magazine The Holocaust new wave continues with Tickling Leo, this time drawing on a little-known historical footnote as the haunted backdrop for an otherwise tepid contemporary drama. Rated: 1.5/4 Feb 28, 2015 Full Review S. James Snyder Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Although strongly acted and deeply felt, writer-director Jeremy Davidson's arcanely titled Tickling Leo is too theatrically conceived and diffusely told to satisfy its lofty aspirations. Rated: 2/5 Oct 16, 2009 Full Review Paul Brenner Filmcritic.com less an integrated film project than a collection of actors' audition tapes, high energy exercises that look impressive individually but compiled together in a film are nothing short of ridiculous. Rated: 1.5/5 Sep 3, 2009 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com Ostensibly about Holocaust guilt, writer/director Jeremy Davidson's poorly scripted, filmed, and executed drama plays out like an unfinished low budget soap opera. Rated: D- Sep 2, 2009 Full Review Doris Toumarkine Film Journal International Impressive production and performances outweigh ambiguities in this low-budget Holocaust-themed contemporary drama... Audience Member Begins With A Fully-Starkers Naked Man In His 80s & Attempts To Go On Shocking You With His Secrets. Some Of The Drama Is Riveting..Other Bits Boring & A Ramshackle Postscript To Jewish Wartime Pathos..Wasn't Sure How To Connect With It. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member An intelligent film with powerful performances by all involved about 3 generations of Jewish men and family secrets that keep them all apart when they perhaps each need one another more than ever. When a young man travels from NYC to the Catskills with his pregnant girlfriend they find his father there alone and stuggling between dementia and real life issues. The grandfather played by Eli Wallach who is well in his 90s now is a real pleasure to watch as he is talanted & gifted of an actor as he ever was. A fine independent film I'd highly recommend.
