Burl Burlingame Honolulu Star-Advertiser Only the Brave is a little movie, but a good, powerful, haunting feature nonetheless. And it's way overdue, the last 442nd/100th movie was Go For Broke, 1951. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 16, 2011 Full Review Bruce Dancis Sacramento Bee In addition to being a taut and exciting war film, with realistic combat scenes and flashbacks and flash-forwards to the soldiers' civilian lives, Only the Brave serves to educate viewers about the diversity of the Japanese American troops. Georgan G I enjoyed learning about the Japanese-American troops in WWII. The prejudice against Japanese-Americans during this time was horrible, as shown briefly here. My problem is with the script, which did not allow the viewer to understand the characters. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review william k Good firefighter tragedy with a solid cast is more focused on the protagonists' personal lives, but also offers some exciting firefighting scenes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member movie it was wonderful!!!!! 5 stars 100%. One of the best movies I've ever seen!! You should see it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Only movie I've ever saw my husband cry during. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Frances H I wanted to like this movie, but the whole production was rather cliched and mediocre. The TV movie Return to Manzanar was a more dramatic film, and far less amateurish. The director should have watched Saving Private Ryan or Tuskegee Airmen before starting this project. It did not have the emotional impact that it should have had. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/13/13 Full Review Audience Member Similar to "Passchendaele". Lane Nishikawa does a great Edward James Olmos imitation... or is that really his real voice?! The film was very predictable and the antithesis of poignant.
