Only the Brave is a little movie, but a good, powerful, haunting feature nonetheless. And it's way overdue, the last 442nd/100th movie was Go For Broke, 1951.

In addition to being a taut and exciting war film, with realistic combat scenes and flashbacks and flash-forwards to the soldiers' civilian lives, Only the Brave serves to educate viewers about the diversity of the Japanese American troops.

I enjoyed learning about the Japanese-American troops in WWII. The prejudice against Japanese-Americans during this time was horrible, as shown briefly here. My problem is with the script, which did not allow the viewer to understand the characters.

I wanted to like this movie, but the whole production was rather cliched and mediocre. The TV movie Return to Manzanar was a more dramatic film, and far less amateurish. The director should have watched Saving Private Ryan or Tuskegee Airmen before starting this project. It did not have the emotional impact that it should have had.

Similar to "Passchendaele". Lane Nishikawa does a great Edward James Olmos imitation... or is that really his real voice?! The film was very predictable and the antithesis of poignant.
