Kristen Yoonsoo Kim New York Times Yoav becomes such an oppressive presence that it is difficult to empathize with him. Apr 30, 2020 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens The trio of leads give strong performances, with Usarsai's enigmatic poise the film's stand-out, but the script feels heavy-handed when dealing with a topic as delicate as depression. Rated: 3/5 Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Matthew St. Clair Cinema Sentries 15 Years has a quiet power that hits viewers from the catalytic dinner scene to its heart-rending conclusion. Sep 23, 2020 Full Review Terence Johnson Le Noir Auteur Every single glance, pause, and tongue lashing in 15 Years is imbued with the 15-plus year history of these characters, and it is truly a sight to see. Apr 30, 2020 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall The story is compelling and the central idea is strong, but the viewer increasingly feels left outside. Which makes it provocative but never engaging. Rated: 3/5 Apr 29, 2020 Full Review Norman Gidney Film Threat 15 Years is a solid drama, beautifully produced, but ultimately an unsatisfying one. Matt G Feel the movie missed some part. Very confusing Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/22/23 Full Review Audience Member I wish the writing could match the fantastic visuals and sharp acting in this film. The story, while overall compelling, fails to take us anywhere coherent in the end. We get it. He's having a midlife crisis. It's been happening to men (gay and straight) since God was a boy. So? The film lacks a clear emotional through line and ultimately leaves the viewer dissatisfied. A shame really - because there is a potentially interesting story to be told about society's obsession with having children and how oppressive it can be to those who don't want any. A lost opportunity in a beautiful package. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
