Peter Bradshaw Guardian It’s an enticing, eclectic collection. Rated: 4/5 Mar 7, 2024 Full Review Maya Phillips New York Times This year’s Oscar-nominated animated shorts — sobering tales of war, assault, trauma, identity and regret — ask the question, what tools can filmmakers use to tell a poignant, but not exploitative or gratuitous, story about trauma? Feb 15, 2024 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight This year’s nominated short films are a disappointing batch with a few gems mixed in. The topical ones are a bit boring while the most interesting are the least political, a rarity in short films. Rated: 3/4 Apr 7, 2024 Full Review Al Alexander Movies Thru the Spectrum Some of them, namely Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar” and the glorious “The Last Repair Shop” (both favorites to win), could hold their own if tossed in the ring with their heavyweight counterparts in the feature film race. Rated: B- Mar 11, 2024 Full Review Patrick McDonald HollywoodChicago.com Striking in its exposition of different animation styles in these digital times. Nothing overwhelming story wise but OUR UNIFORM is the most graphically clever, animating cloth in a burqa to create its statement. As a Lennon fan, WAR IS OVER! had a kick. Rated: 4/5 Mar 4, 2024 Full Review Pete Hammond Deadline Hollywood Daily For me there are a couple of clear winners in this collection, the best in show belonging to director Dave Mullins’ War Is Over! Inspired By the Music of John & Yoko. Feb 28, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
