"2050" has a meaningful subject, but is so dialogue-heavy and incident-light that almost the entire film feels like a pitch for the movie Holt didn't make. Go to Full Review

A series of disconnected scenes, rather than a narrative with a sense of momentum. Go to Full Review

Though the title would have you believe you were watching a "futuristic" film involving robots, the truth is, it just feels like a cheesy soap opera or novella. Go to Full Review

To simply dismiss it because of surface notions is to ignore the slippery slope of where we are going as a population ruled by new technological advancements everyday. Go to Full Review

2050 is ostensibly a film about sex robots, hand-crafted by Dean Cain. But really, it's just a movie about terrible people rationalizing terrible behaviors in the most verbose, unnatural ways possible. Go to Full Review

JOAN PAU R @JoanPR Oct 10 This was better than I expected (and ignore the critics, this may become a cullt movie). The focus is not on futuristic action or any intricate plot, but rather on exploring how AI technology may impact imperfect human relationships, through advanced sex robots that are almost credible. I found it thoughtful rather than entertaing, with great music, fair acting, credible characters, and a challenging ending that, I suspect, many will find too challenging. See more Igna B Jan 11 The topic is interesting but the movie is so amateur it ruins it! 😭 See more John H 07/11/2024 I enjoyed the subject matter, and really liked the ending. Some of the film was disjointed, and I think it could have been streamlined to have a bigger impact. Overall,I liked it. See more 12/23/2021 Tries to be intelligent and thought provoking only to be laughable at the end. Honestly I liked the movie most of the way until the started to say we need more technology because we as humans aren't good enough for each other. Everyone needs a sexbot in order to be truly happy, I guess. So dumb. See more 05/20/2021 The director clearly had some interesting ideas but lacked the skill or experience to properly implement them. The cast were entirely awful. The only convincing character was Quinn who seems to have only been present for the sake of having some nudity and I would guess was only convincing because her character was an emotionless robot. It feels very much like this movie is trying to make a political statement but is so clumsy in it's execution that the point is lost. See more 12/14/2020 OK, this is clearly a movie that misses a few things: credible sets (2050??), great actors, a good music score, an experienced director, a special effects budget... The script also needs some work, but it does address some interesting issues; authentic relationships, intimacy, other human needs... Even though this isn't Hollywood, I appreciated the story, and the few things that DID work, like the possibility of being attracted to an artificial companion. All 3 eMates in leading roles performed really well. Whether 2050 will really deliver this, is very doubtful however. See more Read all reviews
