Audience Member Absolutely loved it! The movie shows humans as individual creatures. Humans are not seen as 'the same type multiplied', but rather as something that is constantly developing, changing and moving. Very smooth role play. At times one may question some why's, however it ends up questioning one's own life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A romance triangle never before told and pray that this movie is not foretelling a new idea of an extended family where there may exist no more sexual boundaries. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review dave j Tuesday, July 22, 2014 (2011) Three (In German with English subtitles) ADULT DRAMA To generalize the movie as a whole, which I must admit used the fast-forward button while playing on most scenes since it's direction is predictable, was that successful middle aged woman finds out her husband is also gay, and accepts his choice of lifestyle by getting involved in a threesome with her husbands lover at the end. And all of that job description stuff only serves as a backdrop to this predictable love triangular acceptance affair. And if viewers are aroused by it's characters appearing full frontal should be able to tolerate this movie even more. And to look at the big picture, the thesis of this movie may have been much more effective in it's native Germany, but over here in North America, perhaps on other First World countries it's point is bloody obvious. 1 star out of 4 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing and thought provoking. Challenging the conventional social norm of relationships. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Tykwer seems to be more interested in pretentious artsy shots than creating a resonant story, and the fact that the female character is unbearable and the plot unbelievable and boring to death only helps make this film an ordeal to sit through. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A very interesting and sexy film with nice character development and fine acting. It suffers a little from wanting to say too much and becomes somewhat pretentious at times. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The film is successful in an absorbing sort of way, but underwhelming. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times Tykwer's script is structured so that the audience knows more about the characters' connections than they do. As each faces a midlife crisis/turning point, fate sometimes appears to be calling the shots. Rated: 3/4 Nov 3, 2011 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post Tykwer can't seem to turn Hanna, Simon and Adam into real people. They feel like pawns in the service of a more cerebral diversion than the game of life. Rated: 2/4 Oct 21, 2011 Full Review Julian Lytle Ignorant Bliss Overall 3 is a very engaging film with it's look on a long standing relationship. There is no real Hollywood type of way they solve their issues or have epiphanies about problems in their lives at the right perfect moment. Rated: B Jan 11, 2020 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: C Jan 18, 2013 Full Review Richard Knight Knight at the Movies The movie's too sleek and chilly and doesn't exactly call to mind a warm, romantic comedy.
